QvExtra! International has announced the final programme for the 2nd Conference on Nutrition and Health Labelling of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the EU. It will be held next Tuesday 24thSeptember at the Palace of the Cordoba Provincial Council.
The official presentation of the conferences will be led by Soledad Serrano, QvExtra! President, Jaime Lillo, COI Director, and Salvador Fuentes, President of the Cordoba Provincial Council.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the day will be the participation of Isabel Pérez, Nutrition and Health Manager of the Danone Group, who will give the presentation “Danacol reduces the cholesterol”. She will highlight the effect of the product in reducing cholesterol and the implications of making this claim for the consumer.
The second presentation will be given by Álvaro Lancharro, AESAN’s Technical Officer and expert in nutritional risk management. This presentation will cover aborded the health and nutrition labelling in the European strategic context of “farm to fork”, as well as a training on the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) guidelines and general health claims.
The day will end with a round table moderated by Herminia Millán, manager of QvExtra!, where the draft “Declaration of health claim to article 14 of virgin olive oil regarding the reduction of disease risk” will be presented. The main personalities participating in this round table will be:
– Dr. María del Carmen Millán, Senior Scientist at CSIC and responsible for the preparation of the technical dossier submitted to EFSA.
– Mr. Álvaro Lancharro, Technical Manager of AESAN
– Mrs. Dulce Miranda, Partner Deloitte and expert in intangible assets, data and technology
– Dr. Miguel Ángel Martínez, Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Navarra and member of the scientific committee of QvExtra!
The conference will be closed by Mr. José Miguel Herrero, Director of the Food Industry at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).
To conclude, those attending the event will enjoy a lunch offered by the Casa Pepe de la Judería restaurant with a menu designed by chef Periko Ortega.
The celebration of this event will be possible thanks to the International Olive Council (IOC) and the companies Vetreria Etrusca and Arola, companies that have wanted to support QvExtra! in this important project.
The event will bring together renowned experts in the sector, with a limited capacity of 120 attendees. Due to the high confidentiality of the project, still under administrative study by EFSA, the in streaming broadcasting has been suspended.
