The world of EVOO culture has its own international magazine: Olivatessen. Each year, this publication surprises us and enlightens us with a new issue that immerses us fully in this world and, in 2021, QvExtra! International had the honour of making an appearance.
The magazine
The publication, which is written in English and has a print circulation of 15,000 copies, has strived to promote and highlight the world of extra virgin olive oil, its gastronomy, and its main stakeholders throughout the last 7 years.
Through different reports on various matters, both on the olive oil sector and on current affairs in general, they strengthen and enhance knowledge on extra virgin olive oil and its qualities.
This year, some of the most important people in the field wanted to make a special mention about the work that QvExtra! has been carrying out for the sector and, above all, for all EVOO lovers around the world.
QvExtra!’s contribution
In the 2021 edition, QvExtra! International and the SIQEV seal made an appearance in the Olivatessen magazine as guarantors of the highest quality in the production of EVOO, from such relevant figures such as the director of the Spanish Association of Olive Tree Municipalities, José José María Penco, renowned chefs such as Firo Vázquez and Periko Ortega, and Dr. Miguel Ángel Martínez, specialist in nutrition and Mediterranean diet, who talks about the advantages of consuming a good EVOO for our body.
The wise words of José María Penco at Olivatessen could not sum up our mission better than when we started this project: “When some were discussing the boundary of an extra virgin olive oil and studying to pass, others were distancing themselves from this boundary and were already revising to get an A. Their message was clear: we are going to sign a commitment with consumers without them even asking us to do so, we are going to self-impose standards to ensure that our EVOOs are of the highest quality, we are going to establish our own voluntary verification system to guarantee excellence… and we are going to create an Association for this, where we will invite everyone who believes that extra virgin olive oil is a fresh fruit juice that smells and tastes good, so good…”.
Also in the magazine, both Firo Vazquez, skilled chef of the highly acclaimed restaurant “El Olivo” and Periko Ortega, manager of “ReComiendo” (one of the top 10 restaurants in Spain and winner of the Travellers Choice Award) praised the SIQEV seal as proof of undeniable product quality. In the words of Periko Ortega, “If a bottle has this seal, then what you find inside is an excellent and exquisite product”.
